Getting Here

By Bus:
During the winter season, numerous bus lines deliver visitors to Kutchan and Niseko from Chitose and Sapporo and it is the most popular form of transportation from the airport to the resort.  Further information will be posted here when schedule services are set for the 2008-2009 winter season.  Convenient, economical door-to-door transporation and bilingual service is available from Chitose Airport with Skybus.  Very few buses run outside of the ski season.

By Car:
Freedom Inn can be reached in 2 hours by car from either Shin-Chitose Airport or downtown Sapporo or about 1.5 hours from Otaru.

From Chitose:  Follow the signs to Central Chitose (千歳市街) and Chitose Station (千歳駅).  In front of Chitose Station, turn left towards Lake Shikotsuko (支笏湖) and drive about 20 km out of Chitose to an intersection where Route 453 goes either straight to Sapporo or left towards Tomakomai. Turn left.  After about 500 meters, turn right onto Route 276 in the direction of Kimobetsu (喜茂別).  Follow Route 276 for about 80 km straight into downtown Kutchan (倶知安) where Route 276 meets Route 5.  You may want to take a rest at "Forest 276" along the way, which provides the only rest room facilities for most of the trip.  Be careful to not turn left where Route 276 meets Route 230 and signs point to Rusutsu.  Turn right at that juncture and follow the signs to Kutchan.  Upon reaching Route 5, turn left and about 400 meters and four traffic signals later, turn right onto Route 58 where a blue sign states "Niseko Resort Area".  Follow Route 58 over the railroad tracks, past the ski jump and up a winding road for about 5 km.  You will pass the town incinerator on your right and a small pension immediately afterwards.  Take the next left onto a double laned road that is the entrance to the Tokyu/Hanazono Resort Area.  Take your third left thereafter to reach Freedom Inn.

From Sapporo:  Follow Route 230 out of Sapporo for about 60 km until you reach the turn off for Kyogoku (京極), Kutchan  (倶知安) and Route 276 on your right (at a Hokuren gas station and just before a Lawsons).  Follow Route 276 into downtown Kutchan at Route 5.

From Otaru:  Follow Route 5 out of Otaru for about 60 km into downtown Kutchan.  At the fourth traffic signal after you pass a turn for Route 276, turn right onto Route 58 where a blue sign states "Niseko Resort Area".

By Train:
The JR Hokkaido Hakodate Mainline runs through Kutchan and Niseko. From Chitose, take the Airport Rapid to Otaru (about 1.5 hours and switch to the Hakodate Line for the 1.5 hour ride to Kutchan).  Freedom Inn is about a 10 minute drive from Kutchan Station.  In the winter, JR Hokkaido runs about 5 "Niseko Express" trains from Sapporo to Niseko with a stop in Kutchan.  The ride is more comfortable and only moderately faster than using the regular trains.
